This summer, July 2026, Miami’s own Don Woodz will take the stage as an official artist for Mic Check Wynwood Season 4, bringing three decades of passion, resilience, and raw artistry to one of the world’s most electrifying platforms for emerging talent.

From his earliest days surrounded by music and emotion, Don Woodz seemed destined for this moment. Between the ages of five and eight, he absorbed the sounds his aunts and cousins played while babysitting him—songs that shifted moods and told stories. By eight, he was already writing rhymes to escape the harsh realities of his city, unknowingly laying the foundation for a lifelong calling.

Over the years, his creative process has evolved alongside his growth as both an artist and a man. At eleven, he wrote his first full song about a girl he met at a skating rink. As a teen, his music was raw and fueled by emotion. In his twenties, he chased hits, but now in his thirties, Don Woodz has returned to his roots—listening deeply to each beat, starting with the hook, and letting the rest of the song flow naturally.

Growing up during the legendary Biggie and Pac era, Don Woodz credits Biggie Smalls as the reason he first picked up a pen. His influences expanded to Rakim, Big L, DMX, Method Man, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Juelz Santana, and Lil Wayne—his all-time favorite. Though some in Florida once dismissed his sound for not fitting the “Miami mold,” Don Woodz has proven his artistry transcends boundaries. From Linkin Park to Adele, reggae to jazz, his music embodies sound and soul itself. He describes himself as an ancestral being, a vessel for the universe, channeling creativity into every verse.

At the heart of his music lies a simple yet profound message: love. His songs explore humanity in all its forms—goofy, intelligent, emotional, spiritual, and resilient. Even when tested by hardship, his mission remains clear: to promote unity and compassion in a world that often forgets both.

The journey hasn’t been easy. His single To The Top featuring Slide Life 305 reveals struggles with labels, financial hardship, broken friendships, and betrayal. He reflects on hip hop’s evolution, caught between old-school authenticity and new-school trends, famously writing: “I shoulda been a lil older, coulda came in the game when love was in it.”

Yet, Don Woodz finds his greatest reward on stage. Whether in intimate clubs like Burn, strip clubs like G5, or larger venues like Marlins Stadium, he thrives on the energy and connection of live performance. For him, performing is purpose—a chance to share his story and feel the audience’s love in return.

If success were measured by material things, he admits he might have two houses and two cars by now. But for Don Woodz, music has always been about passion over profit. With over 30 years in the game,

If success were measured by material things, he admits he might have two houses and two cars by now. But for Don Woodz, music has always been about passion over profit. With over 30 years in the game, he now focuses on writing for others and dreams of launching a record label to uplift the next generation of stars. His catalog continues to grow with projects like A Gentleman and A Gangsta (out now), A Gangsta and A Gentleman (dropping Thanksgiving), and Allapattah Style Vol. 1 set for release next year.

Guided by three principles—live, laugh, and love—Don Woodz has built a respected name and catalog rooted in authenticity and heart. For him, music is not just art—it’s legacy.

And this July 2026, that legacy takes center stage at Mic Check Wynwood Season 4. Get ready.
